Roland JX-8P
Fully working and in fair to good condition.
The JX-8P is a six voice analogue polyphonic synthesiser with a 61 note velocity sensitive keyboard and channel aftertouch. It is significant improvement on the earlier JX-3P. The 8P uses an all analogue signal path with two digitally controlled oscillators, twin cascaded two pole filters and a quality stereo chorus unit. Editing is via numeric selection of the parameter and then using a data slider to alter the value. Whilst more cumbersome than one knob per function as on the earlier Jupiters, it is surely better than the dreaded Alpha-dial that Roland used on later synthesisers. It can also be edited via the PG-800 programmer unit.
The JX-8P is midi controlled and can be used as controller for other midi synths. The pitch bend and modulation controls are the usual Roland waggle stick. The aftertouch does work, but as is common with early Roland midi keyabords, is a little insensitive compared with more modern units.
The unit is wired for 240V operation for use in the UK, but can converted easily enough to 220V for European operation.
The unit comes with an M16C memory cartridge. The optional PG-800 programmer is not supplied.
